Bickering between couples, young or old, is so common that even Kings and Queens are not immune to it.
One such incident was recently attributed to Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth of the Great Britain.
Queen Elizabeth’s marriage to Prince Philip, who passed away last year at the age of 99, lasted for more than 73 years.
The Queen and her husband were together at Windsor Castle for a few months before Prince Philip’s death on April 9, 2021.
Prince Philip spent his final months with his wife and a select number of staff because they were shielded from Covid-19 in HMS Bubble at Windsor Castle.
British tabloid, The Mirror, quoted a royal aide as saying that the royal couple bickered like any other married couple on a regular basis during their time at the Windsor Castle.
Despite their enduring marriage, the royal aide said, the Queen would let the Prince know that they weren’t just any normal couple.
On one occasion, according to The Mirror report, Prince Philip was overheard telling Queen Elizabeth, “Oh, do shut up, you silly woman”.
The Mirror cited an unnamed palace aide as telling Daily Mail that the Queen said back straight away: “I am not a silly woman, I am the Queen.”
The aide said: “They bickered with one another. It was sweet but so unexpected.
“I couldn’t believe my ears but I was told this was how they always were with one another.”
Queen Elizabeth and other members of the Royal Family are likely to attend a memorial service for Prince Philip later this month. The memorial service is set to take place at Westminster Abbey on March 29.
On February 6, 2022, Queen Elizabeth set a new record by becoming the first British monarch to reign for 70 years. She acceded to the throne to become Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on February 6, 1952. On September 9, 2015, she became the longest-reigning British monarch in history.
