Pakistan and India have 16 of the 20 most polluted cities in the world, according to the World Health Organization (WHO) global PM2.5 database.

Usually, in later part of the year, farmers burn crop waste in their fields in both countries and such acts add to air pollution across northern India and Pakistan. However, a lack of measurements makes comparisons difficult.
