Pakistan General Elections 2024: Party position in National Assembly

As results of the Pakistan General Elections 2024 continue to pour in a day after completion of the voting process on February 8, the position of various political parties on the points table is becoming clear with the passage of every hour.

Unofficial and unverified election results show that independent candidates have won 93 seats, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has won 75 seats, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has won 54 seats, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has won 15 seats, Pakistan Muslim League (PML) has won 3 seats, Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) has won 2 seats and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) have won 4 seats.

A vast majority of the independent candidates is supported by former prime minister Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), which was deprived of its iconic election symbol of bat days before the elections.

Unverified and unofficial election results coming in from the election cells of various news channels infuriated PML-N chief organiser Maryam Nawaz. Taking to X, previously known as Twitter, Maryam Nawaz wrote, “As opposed to the false perception deliberately built by a section of media last night, PMLN, Alhamdolillah emerging as the single largest party in centre and in Punjab. Some results awaited. MNS will head to PMLN HQ for the victory speech as soon as final results are received. Insha’Allah. Stay tuned.”
