Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz appeared confident despite her critics, as she wore the Elite Force’s uniform at their passing-out parade in Lahore on Friday.

The chief minister remarked, “This uniform represents national service, a privilege granted to the sons and daughters of a few nations.” She added that wearing the uniform is both an honor and a significant responsibility.

This appearance came weeks after CM Maryam was seen in a khaki Punjab Police uniform, complete with a police baton, while inspecting a passing-out parade of lady constables and traffic assistants at the Police Training College in Chung.

Her previous choice to wear the khaki uniform sparked controversy, with critics questioning her authority to don the official attire. The debate stirred up various opinions on social media. In response, the provincial police department clarified that CM Maryam is “entitled to wear the police uniform” according to the Punjab Police Dress Regulations.

Continuing the tradition, CM Maryam wore the Elite Force’s uniform with pride. The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) posted on social media, “In uniform, with honour. CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif at the passing out parade of the Elite force today!”

During the parade, the chief minister promised the personnel that the province’s Elite Force would receive all necessary resources. “Whatever the IG Punjab needs will be provided; there will be no shortage of resources,” she assured them.

She was particularly pleased to note that at least 70 of the new graduates are women. CM Maryam congratulated the successful candidates and acknowledged their parents’ support and pride in their achievements.
