LAHORE – Soon after former prime minister Imran Khan was arrested in the Toshakhana case on Saturday, he appealed to the people of Pakistan through a pre-recorded video message to come out on the streets and hold peaceful protests against curbs on their fundamental rights.

Addressing the Pakistanis, Khan said he would be in jail by the time this message would reach them. He said he wanted to make just one request to people that they should not sit home silently. He said he was waging this struggle for the people of Pakistan and for the future of their children. He warned people that they will live the life of slaves if they will not stand up and slaves have no life. He said that slaves live a miserable life on earth, just like ants, which cannot rise.

Imran Khan asked people to continue protests until they get their fundamental right to elect their own government by exercising their right to vote. He said that people should have the right to make the government, not the mafias who have occupied Pakistan. He said that freedom does not come without struggle; it is something that cannot be achieved without struggle.

Interim Punjab information minister Amir Mir said that Imran Khan was arrested from his Zaman Park residence in Lahore with the help of Punjab Police. He said that Khan was later shifted to Islamabad.
