The judge also imposed Rs100,000 fine on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman.

“Imran Khan deliberately submitted fake details [of Toshakhana gifts] to the ECP and is found guilty of corrupt practices,” the judge said and sent the PTI chief to jail for three years under Section 174 of the Election Act.

ADSJ Dilawar also told the officials to send a copy of the order to the Islamabad police chief for the execution of the court orders.

Before the proceedings began on Saturday in the Toshakhana case, a large contingent of police was deployed outside the court and only lawyers were allowed inside the courtroom. However, neither Imran Khan nor his lawyers were present during the hearing.

Earlier, the Islamabad court hearing the Toshakhana case against former prime minister Imran Khan reserved its verdict in the case until 12:30pm.

The court had told Imran Khan’s lawyer in the morning to present arguments by 12pm or else the court will announce its verdict.

In a related development, the authorities have increased the security of Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADSJ) Humayun Dilawar, who is hearing the Toshakhan case against Imran Khan, chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Today, Toshakhana case was called at 8:35am. Imran Khan’s lawyer was not present in the courtroom at that time, but the lawyer representing the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) was present there.
