LAHORE – The Punjab government has appointed a grade 21 officer, Ghulam Rasool Zahid, acting inspector general of the Punjab Police.
According to a press release issued by the Police Department, Zahid was performing his duties as additional IG (investigation). He belongs to the 19th Common and joined the Police Service of Pakistan as ASP in 1991. He also served as DPO in Rahim Yar Khan and RPO in Bahawalpur.
Zahid started his service as ASP Abbottabad, Hayatabad (Peshawar) and Karachi. He served in MT Punjab, Police Training School Sargodha, Police Training School Rawalpindi, Intelligence Bureau, Police Training Sihala, Special Branch (Punjab), Welfare Punjab and Motorway Police.
The districts in which Zahid rendered professional services include Rawalpindi, Karachi, Lahore, Toba Tek Singh Abbottabad, Peshawar, Khanewal, Sargodha, Vehari, Bahawalpur Islamabad and Gujranwala. He has also represented Pakistan in Kosovo on the United Nations Mission.
Zahid is one of the most professional, conscientious and experienced police officers of the Police Service of Pakistan, the press release concluded.
