MULTAN – PPP candidate Syed Ali Musa Gillani on Sunday defeated Meher Bano Qureshi of the PTI in the by-election in the NA-157 constituency of Multan.
According to unofficial results of all 264 polling stations in the constituency, Ali secured 79,743 votes against Meher Bano who obtained 59,993 votes.
Ali is the son of former prime minister and senior PPP leader Yusuf Raza Gilani and Meher Bano Qureshi is the daughter of former foreign minister and senior PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
Soon after unofficial victory of Ali was announced on the media, PPP Chairman and Foreign Minister of Pakistan Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari greeted Ali on his success. He said the Multan seat and the Karachi seat that PPP won today were stolen by the PTI in the 2018 general elections.

In NA-237 Karachi Malir 2, PPP’s Abdul Hakeem Baloch defeated the PTI chairman in the by-election.
