Renowned Islamic scholar Maulana Tariq Jamil’s son Asim Jamil died in mysterious circumstances in Mian Channu on Sunday.
According to initial reports, Asim Jamil’s body has been shifted to Tulamba Hospital and the police have initiated an inquiry into the incident.
Asim Jamil’s death was confirmed on Maulana Tariq Jamil’s official account on X, previously known as Twitter. The post says, “My son Asim Jamil passed away in Tulamba today. This sudden death has created an atmosphere of mourning. All of you are requested to remember us in your prayers. May the Almighty rest my son’s soul in the highest place in the Heavens.”

According to the Mian Channu deputy superintendent of police (DSP), Asim Jamil shot himself in the chest. He was taken to the Tulamba Hospital where he died due to his critical bullet injury. The DSP said that police have yet to ascertain what really caused Asim Jamil’s death.
According to a police spokesperson, Punjab Police Inspector General (IG) Dr Usman Anwer has taken notice of Asim Jamil’s death and sought a report from the Multan regional police officer (RPO) on the incident. The IG said that the cause of Asim Jamil’s death would be determined with the help of evidence and a forensic report.
The Khanewal district police officer (DPO) and other senior police officers are present at the crime scene and evidence has been collected, the police spokesperson said.
