Pakistan is celebrating its 74th Independence Day on Friday, August 14.
On the eve of the Independence Day, various public and private organisations were preparing for Independence Day celebrations. As the clock struck 12, fireworks were put on display at several places across the country, especially Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Peshawar and Quetta.
Keeping in view significance of the day, law enforcement agencies took extensive measures to maintain law and order in the country.
As the sun went down on the eve of Independence Day, greetings from the national and international figures and celebrities started pouring in.
In his Independence Day message, Dr Arif Alvi, president of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, said: “My dear Countrymen! I wish to extend heartiest felicitations to my fellow countrymen on 74th Independence Day of Pakistan.”

Prime Minister Imran Khan said in his message on Independence Day, “I congratulate the entire nation on 74th Independence Day. This auspicious occasion is a moment to reaffirm our pledge to continue pursuing the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.”
On August 14, the prime minister also released a video message for the nation.
