Raoof Hasan, former special assistant to now jailed former prime minister Imran Khan and incumbent spokesperson for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was attacked by some unknown persons in Islamabad on Tuesday.
Hasan was returning from the office of a private news channel when apparently a transgender person stopped him and exchanged a few words with him. As Hasan tried to step back, the ‘transgender person’ grabbed him from his shirt and started slapping him. In the meantime, three more ‘transgender persons’, who were already standing in the parking lot, reached the scene and started hitting Hasan.
A statement shared from jailed former prime minister Imran Khan’s Instagram page strongly condemned the attack on Raoof Hasan. It said, “Strongly condemn the cowardly attack on Raoof Hassan, our party’s Information secretary. The entire nation knows who is orchestrating these attacks on our leadership. It’s the same powers that lurk in the shadows & use proxies to harass & threaten judges & make a mockery of elections by brazenly tampering results.”
“Let us make it very clear that PTI will not be deterred by such dirty tactics & violence which only serve to expose the perpetrators before the nation.”
