Bakhtawar Bhutto’s wedding week begins!

Bakhtawar Bhutto-Zardari, the daughter of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto and former president Asif Ali Zardari, is going to tie the knot on January 30, so her wedding week has just begun.

The family has planned weeklong functions before the big day of Bakhtawar, who got engaged to the son of a US-based Pakistani businessman in November last year.

According to a spokesman for the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), the nikah of Bakhtawar and her fiancé Mahmood Chaudhry would be solemnised on January 29 and the baraat has been planned for the next day (January 30).

Also, there are reports that the bride’s family is going to host a milaad ceremony, a gathering to mark the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), on January 24. The mehndi ceremony would be held on January 27.

According to a statement issued by Bilawal House, around 300 guests are expected at the baraat function on January 30, as arrangements have been made in line with the standard operating procedures aimed at curbing the spread of Covid-19. The spokesman for Bilawal House confirmed that all functions would be held in Karachi, the capital of the Sindh province where the PPP is in power.

According to a brief introduction provided by Bakhtawar herself on her Twitter page, she holds an MA (Hons) from the Edinburgh University, is a trustee and chairperson of the Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST), an occasional rapper, and the first child born to a sitting female prime minister.
