ISLAMABAD – Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar was sworn in as 8th caretaker prime minister of Pakistan on August 14, 77th Independence Day of Pakistan.

President Arif Alvi administered the oath to Kakar at the Aiwan-e-Sadar where former prime minister Shehbaz Sharif, Army Chief Asim Munir and former cabinet members were present. Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani and other high-ranking officials also attended the ceremony.

After the oath-taking ceremony, Kakar was presented guard of honour at Prime Minister’s House. Kakar is a former senator and a leader of the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP).
