Two major groups contesting the Old Ravians Union (ORU) elections have forged an electoral alliance.
The alliance was forged by the Ravian Galaxy and Ravian Saga groups and both groups have jointly fielded candidates after successfully negotiating seat adjustment.
According to the joint list of candidates, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jahanzeb Nazir Khan will be the candidate for the seat of President while orthopaedic surgeon Dr Abdul Basit will contest the election for the coveted office of General Secretary.
Advocate Syed Tayab Hussain Rizvi will be the candidate for the seat of Senior Vice President, Inland Revenue Deputy Commissioner Dr Tanveer Hussain for Vice President (Male), Advocate Rabia Afzal Wahla for Vice President (Female), Lahore Development Authority Deputy Director Jehangir Iqbal Mayo for Finance Secretary, Audit & Accounts Officer Syed Faizan Abbas for Joint Secretary (Male) and Rida Anwar for Joint Secretary (Female).
For the Executive Council members, Fakhar Hayat, Advocate Sultan Nisar Saroya, Farhad Tirmizi, Mehmood Saeed Raan and Akram Bhatti are the joint candidates of both the groups. Both the groups have vowed to work for the betterment of their Alma Mater, Government College University Lahore, one of the oldest learning institutions of the country.
The candidates said that they will work hard in providing facilities to the Ravians fraternity. The polling will be held on February 14 at the GCU Lahore.
