Sohail Afridi was elected the new chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday, just a couple of days after the jailed former prime minister Imran Khan sacked his predecessor Ali Amin Gandapur.
Sohail Afridi secured 90 votes at Monday’s session of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly that was convened to elect the new chief minister after Gandapur’s departure. The three other contestants who were competing against Sohail Afridi obtained no vote because their parties had staged a walkout from the assembly instead of taking part in the election process.
